Jovi + Jonas = Jovas

**EDIT 9/3/09: SCAN OF INTERVIEW ADDED**

Okay, so that was my username last summer for EVERYTHING, when I became an overnight die-hard Jonas Brothers fan (thank God that was short-lived!). Still, I remain somewhat of a closet fan, and while Kevin was my heartthrob (until the kid went off and got married...), this article in Rolling Stone featuring Joe Jonas and Jon Bon Jovi caught my attention.

I think it was actually published a few months ago, but I finally got the chance to read it, and I thought it was quite interesting. Both Joe and Jon are from Jersey (nifty alliteration there), both have the same initials (more or less), both are the frontmen of highly popular bands, and both started out as starry-eyed guitarists in love with the music world.

I thought the chemistry and banter between the two in the interview was amazing - Jon took Joe under his wing, and Joe's obvious idolatry was simply adorable. Whether you're a JoBro fan or not, it's nevertheless refreshing to see a young star genuinely respect someone older, wiser, and far more experienced than himself.

Moreover, I thought Jon's words of wisdom were SO needed on Joe's part right now. This kid is barely 18 years old and fronting the biggest youth music act in America right now; he's bound to feel invincible like Jon did in the '80s. But at the same time, with a success ballooning this much this fast, there's bound to be a needle just waiting to pop it. Joe - and Nick and Kevin - are young and starry-eyed still, following in Jovi's footsteps during their big hair days, and they need the signposting from a man as successful and withstanding as Jon to keep them on track. I hope Joe took what he had to say to heart. It'll do him more good than I think he realizes right now.
