Just because.

I have discovered the beauty of twitpic, a very dangerous and obsessive feature for a shutterbug like me. LOL

Can we say SWEAT?

I'll hand you a towel, Jonny boy - hell, I'll BE your towel if you want me to.

I found this on my local news website (signonsandiego.com). It's really sad, but how random?

Dead dolphin found near Bon Jovi's house
By WAYNE PARRY, The Associated Press

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. — Since winter closed in on a family of dolphins that had been living in two New Jersey rivers, many observers felt the animals were living on a prayer.

On Saturday, the body of another dead dolphin was spotted in the Navesink River just outside the Middletown home of rocker Jon Bon Jovi.

If it's confirmed to be part of the group of 16 dolphins that had spent half of last year in the Shrewsbury and Navesink rivers, it would be the sixth to have died.

The dead dolphin is the third to surface in the past two weeks. DNA test results are pending on the previous two to determine whether they were part of the pod that created such a stir last year.

Former Bon Jovi road crew member speaks...and it's nice.

I just came across this article about Jeff Hamer, former Jovi roadie, in my Google alerts. It's a nice article, and damn if I wouldn't love to have had his job. :)

Jeff Hamer on Touring With 80's Bands
By Matt Flumerfelt

[excerpts]

Jeff 'Hillbilly' Hamer and Kayla Victor.

“Bon Jovi was the king of the 80’s hair bands," Jeff said. He has gold records on the wall of his home from the Slippery When Wet and New Jersey tours. The framed records were a token of appreciation to crew members. There are also gold records from the 7800 degrees Fahrenheit album — both the Japanese and American versions, and another from the band Skid Row that sold over two million copies. Stevie Ray Vaughan’s framed signature also hangs there.

In the picture accompanying the Slippery When Wet gold record, Jeff is seated next to Jon. He said they traveled all over the world — Japan, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, France, Italy. Jeff said he used to list his road experience on job applications but stopped because he found that no one believed he had actually done those things.

Then, in 1984, he got the call to join the Bon Jovi tour in New Brunswick, N.J. When Jeff joined Bon Jovi, the band had just released Runaway, its first hit single. He said Bon Jovi’s whole family was there, his mom and dad, little brothers, etc., and they all wanted shirts. He said they played a lot of small bars where the band was basically set up in the corner.

"Sometimes they only played to 300 people," Jeff said.
"But Jon gave it his all every night."

Bon Jovi treated the crew very well, Jeff said. He rented bowling alleys on days off, so the crew could bowl and play pool. He paid, so the crew could watch the famous Roberto Duran-Sugar Ray Leonard fight on Pay-Per-View.

“If he saw us out on the town, he’d buy us dinner and drinks,” Jeff said.

The next band Bon Jovi opened for was The Scorpions, and Jeff said that’s when everything started happening. Bon Jovi’s record Slippery When Wet went No. 1, and the band went out on its own. They did a European tour, traveling to 13 countries. Jeff said it was better because they often played three nights in one place, so they didn’t have to travel as much. They performed on Pop Rock TV shows in Europe, the same ones stars like Jimi Hendrix appeared on.

Bon Jovi changed merchandising companies. Jeff said the band was burnt out after traveling and playing together for two years on the New Jersey tour and on the verge of breaking up. They eventually did break up but have since gotten back together, Jeff said, minus the original bass player, Alex John Such. After Bon Jovi, Jeff worked with Aerosmith for several months. He said they were a fun band to work for. He sold a lot of merchandise.

“They were all characters,” he said.

Bon Jovi Slot Machine in Japan

Okay so I saw this a few weeks ago and I'm sure it's already been posted elsewhere, but I thought it was too funny to pass up. :P

Bon Jovi slot machine comes to Japan
By Hoyt April 13th, 2009

A recent pachislo release by Kitac features well known 1980’s hair metal band Bon Jovi and their formerly poodle tressed Arena football team owning lead singer Jon Bon Jovi. Celebrity tie-ins for pachinko machines are nothing new, and they’ve become ubiquitous for US slot machines as well. It’s actually getting hard to find a slot machine in Las Vegas that *isn’t* themed with something or someone. The Bon Jovi pachislo machine amused us for several reasons: for one thing, notice that the band isn’t actually pictured anywhere on the machine. You’ve got a silhouette of them on the glass, and a cartoon caricature of them in the logo but they’re not exactly integrated in the theme.

We tried to find some game play video but since it is such a recent release came up empty. We did head to the Kitac website, and found that they had set up a dedicated site to plug the game at 'bonjovi777.com' which breathlessly exclaims that the machine will usher in a ‘new page in Japanese slots’.

I've Been Twittified.

Dear God, I've jumped on the bandwagon of crazy tech-heads following each other on Twitter. I signed up a few weeks ago when BackstageJBJ did, but had no clue what the fluck I was doing and ignored the emails I've been getting about people "following" me (a bit creepy, if you think about it!)

Anyway, last night for some crazy reason I decided to check out the site more...and an hour later, I was hooked.

So if you're interested in knowing what I'm doing and where I am 24/7, follow me on Twitter. ;) (The widget is in the right-hand sidebar.)

Yikes...Bon Jovi sues all-girl cover band

Is this for real?

Bon Jovi Sue Tribute Band
by Paul Cashmere - April 5 2009

Bon Jovi appears to have sunk to a new low - suing a covers band.

A legal letter from the law firm Blakely Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman to the girl group Blonde Jovi has surfaced and states, “It has recently come to our attention that your band is using the mark and name BLONDE JOVI in connection with live musical performances; more specifically, a Bon Jovi tribute band. Our investigation also uncovered that you are using BJP’s “Heart and Dagger” Logo trademark prominently on your website. Unfortunately, and despite the fact that our client appreciates the reverence that your band pays tribute to Bon Jovi, as a tribute band, our client nevertheless is charged with the duty of enforcing its trademark rights. In this regard, BJP cannot allow your band to use the mark and name BLONDE JOVI (or any other BJP trademarks), as such use creates a likelihood of confusion with our client, and capitalizes on the goodwill and reputation of its well-known marks”.

Is Jon Bon Jovi for real or does he well and truly have his head stuck up his own arse?

A girl-group playing in tiny venues who are paying homage to their heroes “creates a likelihood of confusion” with one of the biggest rock bands in the world.

This is arrogance at its greatest. Bon Jovi should be ashamed of themselves for putting their pitbull lawyers onto a group who obviously adore the band.

“In view of the above, we demand, on behalf of our client, that you and your band immediately (i) cease and desist any and all further use of the mark and name BLONDE JOVI, or any other mark or name similar to our client’s BON JOVI mark, in any manner”.

This line cracked me up. “We have no objection to your use of the word BLONDE as long as it is not used in combination with JOVI”.

If this is the attitude of Bon Jovi a cease and desist is definitely in order. Fans should cease and desist listening to their music, cease and desist buying their music and cease and desist going to their concerts.

There is a discussion going on about this at Hath's site. Do you think Bon Jovi Inc. is out of line? Or should Blonde Jovi, now Blonde Jersey as of yesterday, step off the stage and get back in the audience?
